About Naga Bhairava Kona

History

The Naga Bhairava Kona at Somasila Forest in Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh is one of the ancient two Bhairavakonas located in Andhra Prades and the other being located at Ambavaram Kothapalli, Near Udaigiri known as Bhairavakona.

In NagabhairavaKona, there used to be Ashtha Bhairavaa and Ashtha Shiva Lingas. Among them three Shiva Lingas being located at the foot of the hills and the remaining five shiva Lingas are located on top of the hill which is well known as Pancha Lingaala Kona.

Over the years, The shiva Lingaas have been destroyed by the anti social elements long ago. With the God’s Wish The place has been visited by Venkata Raju during December 2010 and felt to perform Shiv Linga Prathishtha to protect the ancient idols of Bhairav and NagaRaju and the same has been performed on 20th March 2011.

The place is well familiar and visited by many pilgrims during the Telugu Calendar Month of Karthika which falls into November/December months of English Calendar.
